Dublin Bach Cantatas Series 2024
at St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street
Concert 3: Sunday 11th February 2024 • 3:30pm
Artistic Director: Blánaid Murphy
Dublin has a long and rich history of performing Johann Sebastian Bach’s sacred cantatas. Sunday afternoons at St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street were home to John Beckett’s ten-year series in the 1970s, with luminary soloists such as Bernadette Greevy, Frank Patterson and Irené Sandford. In the early 2000s, Lindsay Armstrong and the Orchestra of St. Cecilia took up the mantle, performing all of the cantatas from 2001 to 2010. Now, the tradition is being revived by conductor Blánaid Murphy, one of Ireland’s foremost interpreters of Bach, in a series of three concerts at St Ann’s.
